NRX is the culmination of what G. Loomis has been doing since day one. They have been continually striving to build the best rod on the planet. Laminates, resin, mandrels, components and the know how you expect from them. These NRX rods look like nothing and feel better than anything they have built before. We aren't talking about a little better here or a little lighter there - this is the best fly rod G. Loomis has ever built, in their words.
G.Loomis' GLX Stinger Two-Hand Fly Rod features GLX performance capability, making the rod light, sensitive, very powerful and easy to cast. Its graceful tapers and fast actions allow you to fish all types of lines effectively. Furthermore, its positive line control is great for mending line or for fly control on extended swings.
The thing that made our original Pro-1 CrossCurrent Saltwater rods so dynamic was the weight reduction gained by a 1-piece blank, along with the durability and weight of the RECOIL guide system. G.Loomis used "fiber blend technology" to create a blank that has an incredible combination of strength and power and they were noticeably lighter than the multi-piece versions. Now, using that same design theory with NRX, plus a little more power in the butt-section, G.Loomis has created the ultimate in power, performance and feel in a series of saltwater fly rods. With the "NRX PRO-1" saltwater fly rods you'll experience a level of sensitivity so intense that you'll feel everything that happens to your fly and you'll be ready when that fish of a lifetime makes his move.
When conditions call for long, delicate casts using extremely light leaders to help you fool spooky fish, the NRX Lite Presentation rods are the answer. They are smooth casting, soft tapers for managing long, whisper-thin leaders and small to medium-sized dry flies. They track true for exceptional accuracy and control, plus they are light as a feather with beautiful lines. Featuring select species cork, they come in your choice of either the original, stealthy look in matte black with bright blue wraps or a more traditional evergreen with subtle green wraps and silver trim. When the fish get finicky and the water gets low and clear you will have the answer: NRX LP.
It's the preparation - the pursuit - the prize that makes flyfishing for steelhead and salmon so totally consuming. Whether you're skating dries on big water for those super-aggressive summer steelies or probing the depths of a deep green Northwest river in early November for a big chromer King, it's that sudden rush that overwhelms you when the fly stops.
The Native Run Series rods are made to handle big water, big flies and big fish. They're powerful, smooth casting and beautiful to look at, not to mention how well they fish! They have graceful tapers creating fast actions that allow you to fish all types of lines effectively. They range from 9- to 10-feet in length and handle 7- to 9-weight fly lines. They give you positive line control for technical mending, managing indicators and punching out those long casts. Their proprietary GLX performance makes them unbelievably sensitive, but the sheer lack of overall weight is what makes them a pleasure to fish all day. All you need to do is focus, keep casting and be ready. When the strike finally comes, you'll be glad you've got a GLX Native Run fly rod in your hand.
G. Loomis FR1628/9-4 Versa Spey 550gris great when the rivers as well as the fish start getting bigger and you need more distance and better line control, this would be a good choice. It has a medium-fast taper and the power to pick a lot of line off the water, with long belly lines. It handles 550 grain Skagit tapers with heavy sink-tips and big weighted flies. It's for fishing in nasty, windy, "I wanna go home" conditions, but you won't with this rod in your hand. *Comes with the G. Loomis Rod Warranty - "Zero Cost" with American Legacy Fishing program.
When it comes to saltwater fly fishing, anglers face many challenges. Whether it's billfish or tuna in the blue water or big stripers from the beach, we make the rod. It's not a matter of finesse for the pelagics. You don't need to make long casts or cover a lot of water. You troll teasers to get the fish excited and up close, then you make the cast. What do you do when they pull harder than you? Grab one of G. Loomis' Crosscurrent Specialized rods and get amongst 'em. They give you incredible casting range and when you hook a big striper, you'll be amazed how fast you can get him on the sand of the beach. This is power personified, plus it's a heck of a lot of fun. They know it's a lot to ask of a fly rod, but it's what they do. They make light, tough, cast-far-in-the-wind, powerful fly rods.
G. Loomis took a page from their NRX blank technology to develop a new series of fly rods that "new-to-the-sport" and intermediate fly fishermen will learn to appreciate and expert anglers will wonder how this much performance gets packed into such an affordable package. A new taper design along with a noticeable weight reduction in the upper half of the blank allows them to make a fly rod that is incredibly light, recovers quickly and casts with unbelievable precision. It's the G.Loomis way: reduce as much weight as possible, take total advantage of the materials and create a taper that is dynamic, efficient and user-friendly. They are as beautiful to look at as they are to cast. A rod any flyfisher would be proud to own.
A new breed of specialty "two-hand" power fly rods designed for big pike and muskie. These unique new fly rods are the standard 9', 4-piece style, but feature a special "long handle - switch grip", allowing you to cast using two hands or single-handed, much like salmon & steelhead switch rods - only these rods aren't 10-12-feet long. It's an unusual combination, but it will help you manage the more aggressive fly lines needed to cast heavy leaders with wire tippets. Not only does the longer handle provide more power for longer casts, but it also gives you a lot more leverage for fighting big fish. Anglers have discovered them to be exceptional for the likes of striped bass in both surf and tail-waters, plus numerous saltwater species like snook, cobia, dorado and tarpon. Bass fly rodders will appreciate this set up for big bass in heavy cover as will those traveling anglers in pursuit of peacock bass and many other exotic species.
A few years ago, during visits to the Florida Keys, G. Loomis noticed many fisherman storing their rods after a long day on the water with rod, line, and reel all attached. If these guys were happy to leave the rods assembled, even going so far as to glue the ferrules together, why not make a one-piece rod and avoid the ferrules all together? G. Loomis used their "fiber blend technology" to create a high performance blank that has an incredible combination of light weight, strength and power. They're light, sensitive and sneakily powerful. If you're one of those fanatical saltwater flats anglers that doesn't require the convenience of a travel rod, this is the innovative thinking you've come to expect from G.Loomis. Each rod comes in a protective rod sock. Pro-1 CrossCurrent fly rods are the buzz of the saltwater fly market. Just another way we help make each day you spend on the water memorable.
